Handover Ceremony of the Azzun Municipal Council
Under the patronage of Major General Hossam Abu Hamdeh, Governor of Qalqilya Governorate, the official handover ceremony of the new Azzun Municipal Council was held today at Azzun Municipality. The new council is headed by Attorney Fuad Shbeita, who received the responsibilities from the former Council Chairman, Mr. Ahmad Inaya.
The ceremony was attended by the Governor, Mr. Mahmoud Aamar, Director General of the Ministry of Local Government, Mr. Iyad Qawas, representative of the Fatah Movement, several heads of local government bodies in the governorate, as well as a number of official and community figures from the town of Azzun.
In his remarks, the Governor praised the steadfastness of the people of Azzun and their commitment to their land despite the challenges they face. He wished the new municipal council success in carrying out its duties and serving the citizens. He also commended the efforts and achievements of the previous council, particularly in the areas of expenditure rationalization and strengthening the municipality’s financial and administrative stability. He stressed the importance of building upon these achievements and continuing the implementation of development plans within the available resources and in accordance with the laws and regulations governing local authorities.
The Governor emphasized the importance of unifying efforts among various institutions to serve citizens, noting that there are development priorities and needs that require clear and well-planned strategies to improve municipal services and meet the aspirations of the town’s residents.
During the ceremony, speeches were delivered by the Director General of the Ministry of Local Government, the former Municipal Council Chairman, and the new Municipal Council Chairman. The speakers highlighted the importance of continuing efforts to serve the community, address citizens’ needs, and strengthen the process of local development through partnership with all relevant stakeholders.
As part of the handover process and in line with the principles of transparency and institutional continuity, the municipality’s financial and administrative reports were presented and reviewed during the ceremony.
